What Is Paint Protection Film?

Paint protection film is a lightweight urethane layer applied over your vehicle’s painted surfaces. The film is virtually invisible once installed, and it acts as a shield against rock chips, bugs, hard water, bird droppings, chemical stains, and UV rays.

It works as a sacrificial layer. When a pebble kicks up off the highway, the film absorbs the impact instead of your paint. The chip that would have damaged your clear coat get absorbed by the film.

The technology is older than most people realize. It goes back to the Vietnam War, when 3M developed a film to protect military helicopter rotor blades from debris damage. The same principle protects your hood today.

New Paint Does Not Stay New on Its Own

Utah roads are hard on vehicles. Gravel, winter road treatment, canyon runs, and long highway miles all leave their mark, and modern factory paint is thinner and softer than it used to be. Chips show up fast.

The best time to install film is before the first chip, when the vehicle is new.

Rock chips and road debris stop at the film, not your paint.

Washing is easier and the finish stays sharp for years.

Full Front PPF

The front end takes the punishment. Every rock, bug, and piece of gravel hits the same panels, and they are the ones people look at first. Full Front covers all of them, edge to edge, with no cut line across your hood. It is what we recommend for most new vehicles.

A middle tier built for how most people actually drive. It extends past the Full Front to cover the high-impact areas that take the most road spray and stone chips on the highway, without going full body. The sweet spot for daily drivers and road-trip cars.

What the Film Actually Does

Self-Healing Topcoat

Light scratches and swirl marks disappear with heat. Park it in the sun or run warm water over the panel and the film re-levels itself.

Damage Prevention

Film blocks hard objects and debris from reaching your paint, saving you from nicks, chips, stains, and scratches.

Non-Yellowing

The film stays clear. It will not yellow from UV exposure, or from the solvents in bird droppings, gas, and oil.

Edge Seal Technology

Most film peels at the edges over time. Ours is sealed tight to the paint with our signature edge seal technology, so nothing gets underneath.

Stain Resistance

Hard water spots, mineral deposits, and acidic contaminants stop being a problem.

CoaticLab Process, Start to Finish

Every vehicle starts with a wash and decontamination, then paint refinement, trim removal, and a hand-applied install. Our process is never rushed. It is done right.

Decontaminate

A full wash and decontamination strips everything off the surface.

PAINT CORRECTION

Orbital polishing removes swirls, scratches, and haze. Film over damaged paint only magnifies it, so we correct first.

Cut and Install

Film is precisely cut, then hand-applied panel by panel with edges wrapped and tucked out of sight.

Cure and Inspect

The vehicle will sit so that edges will set properly, then we inspect every panel before it leaves.

The Full Trifecta

You are protecting your paint with film. The trifecta adds the two layers that finish the job, a ceramic coating for gloss and easy cleaning, and ceramic tint for a cooler cabin.
